WANTED: Geographical Conference Coordinators

The KY Catholic Homeschool Conference needs your help...

We are currently seeking individuals willing to act as conference coordinators for various geographical areas throughout KY, IN, TN, OH, and WV.

The conference coordinator will interact with homeschool families and groups in their local geographical areas to keep them informed of the conference progress and news, as well as help garner support and register attendees.

We are currently looking for coordinators in the following areas:

Bowling Green, KY
Covington, KY
Hopkinsville, KY
Louisville, KY - Filled
Lexington, KY
Owensboro, KY
Paducah, KY
Clarksville, TN
Nashville, TN - Filled
Tennessee (other areas)
Evansville, IN
Jeffersonville/New Albany, IN
Indiana (other areas)
Ohio
West Virginia

Again, the coordinator will basically be our point of contact to forward info and updates on the conference and they in turn can pass the info along to others in their area. The coordinator will basically promote the conference and solicit attendance from others in their geographic area. We would also like to list the name of the coordinator and some contact info on our website (email and/or phone - both is best). In turn, we will credit $5 toward the coordinator's registration fees for each family they get to register (not to exceed the total cost on their registration).

Please contact us if you wish to volunteer as a coordinator. If you are not personally interested, but know of someone who may be interested, please pass this message on to them.

About the Conference

This year, we would really like to stress that anyone may attend the conference -- veteran or new Catholic homeschooling parents, those discerning homeschooling, those encouraging and supporting Catholic home education. In addition, Catholic parents looking to supplement the education of children enrolled in an organized school, Catholic educators looking for additional curriculum options, and parish priests looking to assist the parents in his parish with educational options, may also find the conference useful. Parents of high school students may also wish to attend the conference in order to speak with the various college and vocation representatives that will be in attendance. This conference supports all teaching-styles, learning-styles, and Catholic curriculum options. We hope that by getting this message out, we will be able to educate more people on the idea of homeschooling.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this information with all of your friends and family, as well as your parish priests.

Fr. John Rickert, FSSP, Tenatively Confirmed to Celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass at the Conference

I spoke with Father John Rickert, FSSP, today. He is the chaplain for Regina Pacis (the Latin Mass Community in Lexington, KY). He has tentatively agreed say the Traditional Latin Mass for the conference on Sat., June 4 at 8:00 A.M. Eastern time.

From the Regina Pacis website:

'The chaplain, Fr. John Rickert, FSSP, was ordained by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz for the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter on May 22, 2010, and Regina Pacis is his first assignment. A native of central Kansas, Fr. Rickert lived in the Dallas, Texas, area before entering the seminary. While in Texas he taught mathematics at the college level for two years and worked as an analyst for a benefits consulting firm for six years.'

Who can attend this event? Anyone may attend -- veteran or new Catholic homeschooling parents, those discerning homeschooling, those encouraging and supporting Catholic home education. In addition, Catholic parents looking to supplement the education of children enrolled in an organized school, Catholic educators looking for additional curriculum options, and parish priests looking to assist the parents in his parish with educational options, may also find the conference useful. Parents of high school students may also wish to attend the conference in order to speak with the various college representatives that will be in attendance. This conference supports all teaching-styles, learning-styles, and Catholic curriculum options. Parents typically attend this event from throughout KY, as well as the surrounding states.

Child/Student Attendance Policy: Nursing infants are welcome and attend free of charge. Due to the manpower and amount of responsibility involved, childcare is not provided. Most parents find it easier to concentrate on the speakers and vendors knowing that someone familiar is watching their children at home. However, we recognize that it is not always possible to find someone to watch our children. With this in mind, we have decided to add a child activity room for supervised children, under 11. Parents, unable to make other arrangements, may bring their children free of charge. However, the children must stay in the child activity room and must be accompanied by an adult (over 18) at all times. Each family is responsible for the supervision of their own children. Parents may alternate watching their children or they may bring along a grandparent, etc, to assist with watching the children. Paper, crayons, and other activities will be provided. Children 11 and up may attend the Teen Conference. There is a fee for all teens attending the Teen conference.

Do I have to pay full price to come to the curriculum sale on Friday?

Yes. You must register for the conference in order to attend the curriculum sale. We depend upon the registration fees to put on a quality conference and attract national vendors.

Vendors will be open Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Schedule your time so you can acquaint yourself with the many options available to Catholic homeschoolers.

Please note that some vendors do not accept credit cards.
